gme-plbGME Accusat personal locator beacon is very popular due to its 7 year battery, 7 year warranty, and flashing beacon.  GME leads the personal locator beacon industry with the 7 year battery and warranty.  Most of the other manufacturers offer only a 5 year coverage.  If you’re interested in getting a great PLB that will offer years of trouble free service, look into the GME Accusat.

amerikingeltlocator-survivalaviationAmeri-king emergency locator transmitter sells strong with general aviation aircraft.  The US and the FAA have not mandated the use of the new 406MHz ELT.  Because of this it is very easy and cheap to replace an old 121.5 ELT or install a new 121.5 MHz in any general aviation aircraft.  While the new 406 MHz ELT is far superior to the 121.5 models, it is legal and cheap to install the old style 121.5 MHz emergency locator transmitters.

ACR Personal Locator Beacon

ACR-Personal Locator BeaconACR personal locator beacon has claimed another rescue and life saved.  Out in the remote desert of New Mexico a rancher was thrown from his Jeep and broke his hip.  The rancher owned a very large area of land in a very remote area of the state.  Due to the remoteness and his need to check on livestock, he has carried a personal locator beacon with him for the last few years.  The road he always travelled was washed out with a heavy rain and it was not apparent until he was on top of it.  At this point the Jeep became airborne and he was thrown from the vehicle.  Unable to move, all alone, and with no other way to contact anyone, he activated his ACR personal locator beacon and was found by state police within hours.
