C406 Artex Emergency Locator TransmitterAirlines and Corporate aviation have just about all made the switch to the NEW 406 MHz emergency locator transmitters.  Most airlines have had to make the switch because they fly into countries that require the 406 MHz ELTs.  Most corporate airplanes have made the switch even if they don’t fly out of the country because they know the advantages of the new 406 MHz emergency locator transmitters.

The United States is the only country left in ICAO (the international civil aviation organization) that has not mandated the use of 406 MHz ELTs in it registered aircraft.  Many other nations have mandated the use of the new ELTs so it is required in any aircraft that flies into those countries.  All the major manufacturers of emergency locator transmitters make the new style 406 MHz ELTs.  If you are planning a trip outside of the United States or just want to update to a far superior ELT, check out all the advantages of the 406 MHz ELTs.
