406 MHz emergency locator transmitters are selling fast for all aircraft owners and operators. The advantages are so great compared to the old 121.5 MHz ELTs, that many people are switching as fast as they can. Most commercial aircraft and corporate/business general aviation aircraft have converted or have the conversion scheduled for the next maintenance check. These operators know the tremendous advantages of the NEW system. Some speculate, as well, that the FAA will mandate the use of the new 406 MHz ELTs in the near future.
It is advised that all aircraft operators/owners and pilots get all the information about the new 406 MHz ELTs so they can make an informed decision to replace them.
