The United States Department of Homeland Security recommends everyone have a survival kit available. When preparing for a possible emergency situation, it’s best to think first about the basics of survival: fresh water, food, clean air and warmth. It’s also highly advisable to have a first aid kit and a radio to stay informed of changing situations and know what is being done by government services. These kits can be purchased cheply and last for years. A little bit of money spent now can provide years of peace of mind.
